VACCINATIONS
Hepatitis B
Hepatitis B is a very infectious virus that causes a liver infection that could have serious consequences. You can get infected through unprotected sexual contact or blood to blood contact. It is transmitted during sex or by sharing drug equipment like needles for example during Chemsex, cocaine straws and crack pipes.

You can get lifelong protection from a Hepatitis B infection by getting vaccinated (3 shots). Men who have sex with men (MSM) and sex workers are entitled to free vaccinations. This is because they have a higher risk of contracting the virus. Find out more about Hepatitis B vaccinations here.
Hepatitis A
Just like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A is also a virus that can seriously affect your liver. You run the risk of contracting the virus through sexual contact or rimming. Almost everyone recovers from a Hepatitis A infection, but you can get quite sick. 2 vaccination shots lead to lifelong protection from the virus. Check with your local GGD for pricing.
There is also a combination Hepatitis A and B vaccine called Twinrix®. This is also a series of 3 shots that cost €25 per shot. The total costs are €75 for lifelong protection.
